Eating right, being active, and getting enough sleep are all parts of living a healthy life. But, if you aren’t eating these six foods, you could be ignoring an important part of your health. Gut health.
Stomach and digestive health is a critical part of the body’s immune system. One of the best ways to keep this system strong is by consuming fermented foods that are packed with probiotics. The fermentation process provides the foods below with the good bacteria your gut needs to maintain a healthy balance. An article from Newsmax Health quotes Jeff Cox, author of The Essential Book of Fermentation, “Fermented foods with active cultures of bacteria and yeast seed our gut with the very microbes we need for our intestinal flora to be functionally optimal.”
The six foods to eat for their probiotic benefits include:
1. Sauerkraut
2. Kombucha
3. Miso
4. Tempeh
5. Kefir
6. Pickles
It’s no surprise that this list of foods includes kraut. This versatile food can be added to different recipes and dishes making eating your probiotics a tasty treat. Newsmax Health recommends getting kraut in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. Look for kraut brand Krrrrisp Kraut, which has no added sugar.
